Termination of Enrollment

In some circumstances, it may be neccesary to discontinue a child’s enrollment at Little Starr’s Center. This decision will be based on the best interest for child and staff. Termination of enrollment may be result of the following:

  • • No-payment of tuition
  • • Abusive, distractive, and/or dangerous behavior of the children, staff or property by child, parent, or family member.
  • • Failure to follow our Handbook policies and procedures.

Free Play

“Free-play” (also called child-initiated activities, free choice, self-selection) activities are incorporated into the morning and afternoon schedule. During free-play teachers actively participate with the children by asking questions about what the children are doing, participating in their pretend

play, reading books when prompted, encouraging children to try new activities or play with a new toy, etc. Free play is another opportunity for a child to grow socially and cognitively through the development of relationships with both their teachers and their peers.

Outdoor Play

Outdoor play is incorporated into the daily schedule for both the morning and afternoon. There is less structure in an outdoor learning environment, but due to the children at Little Starr’s having access to a natural playground, our children will be exposed to more organized outdoor playing

as well. Natural playgrounds help children to develop other beneficial behaviors in addition to physical skills. These behaviors include social skills, cooperation, and the ability to solve problems. In addition, natural playgrounds stimulate a child’s imagination and creativity more than a traditional playground.
